Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) is a subsidiary of the Attock Oil Company Limited (AOC), Subsequent to the promulgation of the Pakistan Petroleum Production Rules 1949. POL was incorporated as a Pakistan Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Company on November 25, 1950.
Since Inception, POL has been investing independently and in joint venture with various Exploration and Production companies of Oil and Gas in the country. As part of its aggressives exploration strategy, the company continues to increase exploration exposures by joint venture participation with reputable companies. the company participated in a joint venture in Yemen with MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas Company which is one of the largest multinational corporations in Cental Europe with working interest of 15.5% in Block 48 and 15.2% in Block 49.

Discovered First Commercial Oilfield at Khaur
The Attock Oil Company pioneered Oil and Gas Exploration in Potwar Basin since the early 19th century and has the credit of discovering first commercial Oilfiled (Khaur, 1915) on the Indian Subcontinent. AOC has made significant contribution in promoting Oil and Gas Exploration in the country by opening up the Potwar Basin remained the only oil producing basin in Pakistan till early 1970s.
